Adding a matrix switcher and a complete system overhaul

For over a year Jen and Andy could not use the electronics systems another dealer had installed in their home. While the hardware installed was top shelf equipment, the system was not designed correctly and the software in the remotes rendered the system completely inoperable.

Because Andy and Jenny have an active family life, and are constantly entertaining guests, we completely changed the configuration of their core components. To simplify the operation of the existing hardware and add flexibility, we added a matrix switch, replaced the security controller, added garage door sensors and triggers, added an automation controller, rebuilt the equipment rack, then programmed all the remotes into a single, cohesive, intuitive solution that’s a dream to use.

Jenny gave Andy an ultimatum: “Fix this or else!” She added “We could not go on vacation without our parents calling us every day asking how to turn the TV on.”

The good new was, the home had sufficient wiring to support almost all the devices and controls. This is extremely rare and we were happy that the few wires we did need to run were relatively easy to fish and no drywall or paint needed to be patched.

Because all the systems are remotely accessible, we replaced the internet router and core networking components to make everything work smoothly and securely. An additional WiFi access point was added to provide better wireless coverage throughout the home.

We also reprogrammed the audio system to correctly utilize the zones, intercom, and monitoring.
